Heavy Traffic License Course

Class 2 Truck
What can I drive?

The Class 2 licence course covers a Heavy Rigid Vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of between 6,000kg to 18,000 kg or combination vehicle Gross Combination Mass (GCM) of between 6,000 kg to 12,000 kg.

What will I need?

A licence medical.

Course Outline

Duration; 1 day of theory and the following day or at a time that suits up to 4 hours of training and assessment in a class 2 vehicle. The course will cover the following:

  1. Logbooks (Unit Standard 24089)
  2. Class 2 theory (Unit Standard 17574)
  3. Practical training
  4. Practical Assessment

We can supply the vehicle for the practical or you can supply it providing it meets the required standard.

On successful completion of our training programme you will be issued with a certificate, which you will need to take to a testing agent and have your licence upgraded with no further practical driving test required.

Class 4 Truck
What can I drive?

The Class4 licence course covers a Heavy Rigid Vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of more than 18,000 kg.

What will I need?

Proof that you hold Unit Standard 24089 (Logbooks).

Course Duration

2 hours of theory training followed by up to 4 hours training and assessment of unit 17576.

Course includes:

  1. Class4 theory (Unit Standard 17576)
  2. Practical training
  3. Assessment

We can supply the vehicle for the practical or you can supply it providing it meets the required standard.

On successful completion of our training programme you will be issued with a certificate, which you will need to take to a testing agent and have your licence upgraded with no further practical driving test required.

Class 5 Truck and Trailer
What can I drive?

A Class 5 licence allows you to drive a Heavy Combination Vehicle with a Gross Combination Mass (GCM) of more than 25,000 kg.

Course Duration

Providing you have evidence that you have successfully achieved unit standard 24089 (logbooks) then the course will require about:

4-5 hours of theory training and assessment
Up to 4 hours of practical training and assessment of unit standard 17577

Course includes:

  1. Class 5 theory (Unit Standard 17577)
  2. Practical training
  3. Assessment
