Course Aim
The aim of this course is to produce a telehandler operator that will have the knowledge, skills and attributes to operate a telehandler safely, the trainee will also be able to demonstrate the appropriate responsibilities of a telehandler operator with emphasis on accident prevention and operator responsibility.
Course Overview
Theory and practical lessons will include the following:
- Hazard controls are described in accordance with company requirements.
- Telehandler and attachments are checked and prepared before use.
- Operate a telehandler.
- Carry out post-operational procedures.
The trainees will undergo formal in class training in association with unit standard 23637(your choice) prior to training and assessment. This will be followed by the practical aspects of operating a telehandler. The practical assessment/training will take approximately 1 hour each depending on the trainees experience level.
Pre-requisite if driven on a road
Drivers must hold a current driver licence appropriate to the weight range of the telehandler Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) driven, including a current licence endorsement for on road use i.e. A “W” Endorsement will be required. The endorsement can be completed at the same time as the telehandler course.
W Endorsement required if driving the machine on a road.
